Raspberry Pi has added remote update functionality to its Raspberry Pi Connect platform, enabling users to deploy software updates to devices without needing direct or live access.
The new feature supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, allowing updates to be scheduled and automatically applied when devices reconnect, improving flexibility in managing distributed systems. It introduces a structured process using update packages and deployment workflows to streamline rollout across devices.
To enhance reliability, the system includes mechanisms such as rollback support, helping reduce risk if an update fails. The feature is currently released as an experimental (beta) capability and is designed to extend Raspberry Pi Connect’s existing remote access tools for more efficient device management.
